The hairline stainless steel is one type of frosted stainless steel. SB, HL(hairline) and NO.4(snowflake) are the three basically surface finished for the frosted surface. Hairline is also called straight-grained sand, with clear sand grains and it has a long-distance connection sand pattern. However, The NO.4(snowflake) surface is a relatively short connection sand pattern. Specifically, there are the following points:

1、Different surface texture: The frosted surface is a polished surface obtained by grinding with 150-180 pieces of abrasive grain. But the hairline surface is made of suitable particle materials for hairline grinding about 150-240 pieces of abrasive grain.

2、Different application: The frosted surface is mostly used for architectural materials and kitchen utensils. However, the hairline surface is mostly used for buildings or architectural materials.

3、Different grinding methods: The No.4 frosted surface is adopting intermediate grinding. But the hairline surface is adopting wiredrawing grinding.

There are two processing methods in grinding. One is manual grinding which requires our workers to have high requirements for technical experience and quality control. If the technology is not in place, grinding silk will become different in thickness and it will also affect the overall aesthetics.

The other one is made by a grinding machine which is full-automatic processing. Therefore, the depth and thickness of the silk can be better grasped and the processing speed is faster.

The classification of frosted:

Dry grinding: Using sanding belts directly polish on stainless steel without adding any grinding fluid or other lubricants.

Wet grinding: Must use grinding fluid during polishing. Wet scrub is divided into a water mill and an oil mill.

Water grinding: Using water as grinding fluid during polishing.

Oil grinding: Using oil as grinding fluid during polishing. The texture is finer than water grinding.

Plate grinding: First cut the stainless steel coil into a certain size stainless steel plate and then use each plate to grind. It can be dry grinding or wet grinding.

Roll grinding: Using a whole stainless steel coil to grind. It’s a wet grinding usually.
